While it was written in the 1960s and dedicated to the memory of David Hahn, it was one of my favorite, imaginative, cinematic novels that Alan wrote and which was highly praised by cinematic critic Pauline Kael and author Saul Bellow.Miracles jumps between past and present time frames. As revised by Alan before his death, Miracles was to employ a regular black font for the past, which is most of the book, and a blue font for present time. In this edition, instead of this blue font, we have put the present time in bold face throughout.It is as fresh in conception and execution as it was the day Alan wrote it.
