註釋
Abstract: The democratization of music on the internet has given electronic musicians of underrepresented identities a wider audience and platform. The label and artist collective PC Music represents an ever-growing niche in this digital space following their appearance in 2013 on a non-monetized Soundcloud page. Members, such as producers SOPHIE, A.G. Cook, and Danny L. Harle, unite disparate genres like Nightcore, Happy Hardcore, and Bubblegum Pop into a genre colloquially referred to as Hyperpop. Absurdity and exaggeration are central to this fusion—gender and sound are stretched to their extremes as hyperfeminine voices float over throbbing basslines and harsh machine-like percussion. This stress-testing of gendered sound, explored in this context primarily by queer and/or trans musicians, might be understood as an attempt to synthesize an ideal digital self.
