註釋Successful leaders understand the dynamics behind the fine art of delegation. And when project managers can practice this art well, they can focus on what they do best--acting as the conduits that enable teams to effectively and efficiently realize a project's targets and objectives. This article discusses how project managers can successfully delegate both tasks and authority to their project team members. In doing so, it describes how project managers can identify those team members who possess the skills and acumen to serve in critical roles and handle key responsibilities. It overviews the often under-recognized advantages of delegating work as well as the dangers that exist in assigning authority to others. It suggests how project managers can select the best candidates for delegated work and how they can help a project team accept the selected candidate as one of the project's leaders. It then defines the nature of delegating project work, noting the function of performing this action and an approach for monitoring those who are bestowed with critical project responsibilities. It also recommends a process and approach for managing delegated work. Accompanying this article is a sidebar noting the advantages and shortcomings of delegating project responsibilities on global projects.
