註釋
General description of the collection: The Norman Sue papers include a completed World War II Veterans Survey questionnaire in which Sue outlines his service in the 53rd Armored Infantry Battalion. He describes his draft process and mentions his two brothers who were serving in combat units at the time of his draft. He goes into detail on the quality of American equipment and unit morale. He also mentions the quality of medical care and the problem of drinking. He goes into some detail explaining cooperative operations with the U.S. Navy, particularly transportation to the 3rd Army front and to Omaha Beach. He tells of his experiences with German troops and prisoners and states that "Germans were excellent soldiers." His unit took part in the liberation of Ohrdruf and Dachau. He explains his experiences with displaced persons and the post-war occupation of Europe. He now feels most comfortable discussing war experiences with his brother who served in the Pacific Theater.
