Manuscript copy of two letters from economist Valentín de Foronda to Antonio de San Martín y Burgoa, priest, economist, and leading member of the Sociedad Vascongada de Amigos del País and Seminario Patriótico de Vergara. Foronda praises the work of Basque institutions as products of the Enlightenment and predicts that he and San Martín y Burgoa will be remembered as leaders who brought the Enlightenment to the provinces. Foronoda also speaks highly of San Martín y Burgoa's 1791 book El labrador vascongado, ó, Antiguo agricultor español, which discussed agricultural reforms in Basque Country that could serve as a model for Spanish agriculture in general.
