Mom's sister Helen is scheduled to take a two-month business trip to Europe, and while she's away, she needs the family to take care of Bentley, her spoiled West Highland White Terrier. While Mom, Dad, the fraternal twins, and the two Scotties have lots of adventures on the cross-country drive to Aunt Helen's, things do not go very smoothly once they arrive at the Westie's home. The third terrier manages to alter the dynamics of the family while also affecting Piper and Mac, but it's too late for anyone to change their plans. Even if everyone manages to overcome the difficulties they're facing at their aunt's house, it's anyone's guess how they will coexist during the long drive back home in a station wagon crammed with four people and three dogs. And just when it seems as if this experiment might work out better than expected, the dogs are put to the test in a terrifying situation no one anticipated. Only if they manage to overcome their differences might they survive this most dangerous encounter in their young lives.
