The Most Haunted House in England
註釋In the field of true-life ghost stories, the English master was Harry Price (b. 1881). By far the most famous case in Price1s long career was that of Borley Rectory. This beautifully bound volume, which details this investigation, is a reprint of the original pub. in 1940. Borley is a tiny village in Essex, about 60 miles NE of London. The church was built in the 12th century. The rectory across the street was haunted chiefly by the figure of a nun who walked across the garden. Also appearing was a spectral carriage and team of horses driven by a headless coachman. Price reported that Borley appeared to be afflicted with classic poltergeists as well. He lived in the rectory for a year, and concluded that they really were supernatural manifestations.
