But not only that - an overwhelming number of heterosexual women has found great joy in the novels, claiming they're opening up new dimensions to them, even feeling Alex could be their own son. The series of books is only suitable for mature readers, due to language and explicit sexual content (please notice that the depicted sexual practices are not obscene in any way, but still expressive and realistic!) German voices:Chrissy: I am female, definitely hetero, and the world of Doms, slaves, etc. is not really my scene. Everything started with me discovering that my brother was wearing a strange collar once when I met him and his boyfriend shopping downtown. His behavior towards his friend seemed strange to me too that day. They came towards me, he was walking behind his friend, his head bowed low. Well ... I don't want to go into detail here, but I'm sure you can imagine what I'm getting at. We were having a slice of pie and drinking coffee in a little corner café when I learned that my little brother is a slave ... the real deal. I reacted strangely, felt a complete lack of understanding - sort of like the friends of Raik in the novels. A few days later, my brother gave me the three novels as a gift. Despite my definite reservations, I promised I'd read the books. And ... Wow! I don't know what to say. I'm at a loss for words. The books are amazing! I suffered with the characters, laughed with them, was excited with them. And the most important thing: Through the novels I have learned to understand my brother that much better! I mean, sure, the whole SM thing is not really my world, it probably never will be, but I have learned to not be so judgmental anymore. My lesson here is clear: these books aren't just incredible works of art, they're also something to learn so much from, teaching us about a world we might not know anything about. Thank you so much, Alexander! Oh, and also ... please, please, please! I need more! I need to know how Alex's story ends!!! Gerald Duchek After long and careful consideration, I decided to give it a shot and ordered all four books right away. What can I say? I never once regretted that decision! For my personal taste (I am bi and have been living with my Mistress in a 24/7 relationship for years; so I'm not a total newbie here) it is a tad too romantic, since I don't really enjoy cuddling men. This is also the reason why I could not exactly identify with the main character.It's excellently depicted how Alex changes over time until he becomes clear on WHAT exactly it is he's looking for and what kind of place he searches for in the world of SM. I enjoyed the different states very much too - starting at hope, then acting up, and finally reaching the "Oh, if only I had ..."-stage. The ending of book one was maybe a little abrupt, but that's just high-level yammering, because the book was awesome over all. To make it short: I very much recommend this book, especially to people who, so far, have not had any experience when it comes to the combination gay and BDSM! I'm looking forward to reading book two!
