Carbofuran is a major use systemic pesticide in Canada, although no records are kept on its use except in Nova Scotia, which requires such records after 1986. A literature review was conducted on the uses, fate, and effects of carbofuran on raw water for drinking water supply, freshwater aquatic life, agricultural uses, recreational water quality and aesthetics, and industrial water supplies. This report summarizes the information and presents guidelines for the protection of specific water uses.
