The apparent variation of adiabatic efficiency with inlet temperature was practically eliminated for three compressors when the efficiency was based on diffuser-discharge temperature. Changes in Reynolds number did not account for the variation; heat transfer from the compressor to the atmosphere seemed the most likely cause.
