Preliminary Results of Flow Surveys about an Inclined Body of Revolution at Mach Number 3.5
註釋An experimental study of the flow field about a ogive-nosed body of revolution has been made at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory, White Oak, Silver Spring, Maryland. The results have been evaluated with consideration of the effects of the flow field on multiple, aft-inlet installations. Preliminary results are presented for angles of attack up to 15 degrees at a station 7.5 body diameters aft of the nose. Surveys were made with a combination Pitot-conical probe developed for previous flow field studies. Strong upwash at the sides of the body and strong vortex regions above the body will probably present serious threats to propulsion system performance.
