The first section of the notebook consists of a list of specimen numbers 1-160, collected in Virginia in June 1892 by Vail and Britton. It is labeled "Copy of determinations of Hepaticae made by A.W. Evans, June 1892." The list has plant names and notes on determination by Alexander William Evans. The following section is a list of specimen numbers 1-41, collected in Tannersville, New York, June 1891-September 1892 by Vail. Entries have plant name, collection date, and some have brief notes on plant or habitat.
