The stated goal of this project is to build and program a sailboat capable of competing in the International Robotic Sailing Regatta (IRSR), also referred to as the Sailbot competition. As an incoming first-year entrant, the IRSR strongly advises teams to focus on constructing a partially autonomous sailboat before progressing into developing a fully autonomous model in future iterations. Therefore, our team mission is to produce a partially autonomous sailboat capable of completing each of the following challenges in the Sailbot competition: fleet races, payload event and endurance event. The boat will autonomously complete the endurance event as well as complete the payload and fleet races under remote control. The sailboat will be able to complete the described challenged under reasonable wind and weather conditions.
