註釋This handbook is intended to guide recreation practitioners for the promotion and successful implementation of an On the Move program. Such programs are designed to encourage non-active teenage girls to participate in a fun-filled, supportive, low-skill level, team recreational activity. The handbook first answers some common questions regarding the importance of participation of girls and women in physical activity programs, then reviews some current On the Move programs and the characteristics of successful programs. The report also presents guidelines for involving the community in On the Move programs, planning and implementing a program, recruiting volunteers and participants, media relations, keeping the program active, and evaluating the program. Appendices include outlines of Canadian policies on women in sport, newspaper clippings, guidelines on the use of inclusive language, and contact addresses and phone/fax numbers.
