Exceptional Children in New Zealand
註釋"This book provides a comprehensive overview of issues and provisions for exceptional children and their families in New Zealand, analyses contemporary issues, and argues for developments that should take place in the future. In many respects it is the natural successor to Havill and Mitchell's book "Issues in New Zealand special education". In the 15 years since that book was published, many important developments for exceptional children have already taken place. To describe these changes, the editors invited authors whose professional, research or administrative experience prepared them to present well thought out views on their respective areas of expertise. The book is organised into three parts. In Part 1, there are three chapteres which put current and future provision for exceptional children into three perspectives: a parent's viewpoint, an historical context, and an administrative perspective. In Part 2, some important issues in the field are covered, with 15 chapteres being devoted to such topics as legislation and rights, ethical issues, mainstreaming, technology, early intervention, effective learning contexts, medication, assessment and alternative communication systems. In Part 3, 11 chapters are devoted to systematic descriptions of educational and guidance provisions for the various categories of exceptional children ..." -- Back cover.
