Towards Salvaging Humanity (Selected Speeches)
註釋

Sayyid Abul Hasan Nadwi played a pioneering role in the establishment of Payām-I Insāniyat (Message for Humanity). His rigorous analysis of the moral climate prevailing in the Indian subcontinent highlighted the erosion of values like God-consciousness, justice and ethical integrity. These traits have been abandoned at the altar of greed, corruption and egoism.

Towards Salvaging Humanity is a translation of selected speeches of Shaykh Nadwi to a diverse audience on themes that reflect his pragmatic understanding about the predicaments and opportunities facing both Musslims and non-Muslims in the country. The issue raised in the volume may be reconfigured for a global audience. Broadly speaking, these speeches reaffirm the twin concept of societal reform and love for humanity framed from the lens of Islamic culture and civilization.

Sayyid Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi (1913-1999) was indisputably one of the greatest exponents of Islam in the second half of the twentieth century. He was Rector of Nadwat al-Ulama (Lucknow, India) and executive member of international Islamic organizations. He received the King Faisal Award and numerous other awards from national and international bodies for his service to the cause of Islam. Shaykh Nadwi was a powerful, eloquent orator and writer in Arabic and Urdu. Many of his publications have been translated into English and other major languages.
