The purpose of this report is to provide a consolidated review of the existing published and unpublished data relevant to the agricultural industry in the Yukon, with an emphasis on background material which would assist an agricultural economist to develop a detailed marketing strategy. The report reviews territorial government agricultural policy and general economic considerations governing commercial agriculture in the Yukon and related areas of northern Canada and Alaska. The sectoral analyses give information on such matters as land in production, current production and prices, production costs, and imports for cereals and greenfeed, forage crops, livestock, and horticulture. Relevant statistics are included. The section on marketing covers the state of farmers' markets, local distribution companies, agricultural export potential, and the feasibility of processing operations.
