The concept of introducing recycled wastewaters into existing production processes needs to include strategies to ensure product quality for this practice to be accepted by the industry. The wastewater recycle system incorporated in the composting facility operated by Melbourne Mushrooms Pty Ltd at Nagambie, Victoria is an example where this has been achieved. Monitoring of the wastewater treatment process and recycled wastewater quality incorporated in the Nagambie operation has been oriented towards production quality control parameters as an alternative to parameters generally monitored when discharging to the environment.
