In this book, Dr. Robert North proves that Jesus composed The Gospel of Thomas. Yes, Jesus left us a book to explain his unknown, revolutionary "Way" out of religious and political conflict and into personal and global peace!
He composed a Book because he anticipated exactly what happened: his so-called "followers" would not leave their old beliefs and embrace his paradigm-shift gospel. Instead, they composed the letters and gospels that we find in the New Testament-documents that transform his message into a religion-exactly what he did not want.
To prove these things, Dr. North translated the Gospel of Thomas literally-almost exactly like Jesus intended it to be seen. By doing that, he was able to reveal how Jesus brilliantly organized the Gospel on three levels.
First, Jesus divided his Book into twenty-one chapters arranged in an arch. Second, within each chapter, he composed wisdom poems and laid them out in either an arch or in parallel columns. And finally, he organized the stanzas in each poem in an arch or parallel columns.
By using this organization, Dr. North discovered the ancient meanings of Jesus' metaphors. When we understand them, we truly comprehend-for the first time in 2000 years-the meaning of his sayings and parables.
Review: Dr. Barrie Wilson, former Senior Scholar and Head of the Department of Humanities and Religious Studies, York University, Toronto, noted: "An innovative and highly interesting approach to understanding the composition of the Gospel of Thomas."
