Listen to the Children
註釋These stories, with accompanying photographs, were collected during 40 years of teaching preschoolers, directing child care centers, sharing with parents, and working with teachers and teachers-to-be. The anecdotes illustrate the fresh and amusing ways children look at the world; reveal thoughts and feelings that help adults understand better what it is like to be a child; and reflect both the artistry and ineptitude of adults' relations with children. Commentaries with each story draw on knowledge of child development and learning to help readers move beyond the fun of sharing a child's views to the more intellectual enjoyment that comes from insight into how children feel and learn. Questions to consider are also included with each story, stimulating thought on child development, the complex context of social and economic realities, and the diverse values systems used by today's parents and teachers to make decisions that affect children.
