Beautiful Day
註釋Confronted with a mild case of "the dumps" brought about by several life-changing events occurring within months of each other, author Mark Bryant decided to begin writing as a means of combating his blue mood. The resulting Beautiful Day and Other Stories of Inspiration, Hope, and Personal Growth is a set of fifty brief but stimulating and uplifting -- and often humorous -- essays about friends, family, special places, a cat named Tom-Kitty, comprehensive planning, honesty, meditation, open-mindedness, unemployment, spiritual upheaval, coffee-drinking, reading, God, and being without a cell phone. Smartly intertwined by recurring themes, events, and characters, Mark separates the stories into three sections of focus: "People, Places, and Pet"; "Things I've Learned and Think About"; and "Introspection." Each tale contains a footnote called "My Prayer," in which Mark talks directly to God about the story's main point, moral or issue. Noting that his life has been nothing unique or special, the author states his desire upfront that his stories will spark others to write inspirational tales of their own, "as there are millions and millions of us who could benefit from such efforts."
