A short, ebullient note congratulating Carey on a particularly tricky plant identification: "The little thing is so unike most of the order to which it belongs that I don't wonder you were puzzled with it." In celebration, Torrey writes, "I send you a queer little affair of Rafinesque's to read this evening."
