註釋
This book offers an overview of fifty years of work from one of the most original artists of his generation, Peruvian-born and Paris-based painter Herman Braun Vega. Remaining faithful to the inspirations of his youth-the emphasis on formal rigor and technical mastery coupled with the language of the masters-Braun Vega forged his own voice, and offers admirers the chance to exercise what Octavio Paz called "the privilege of seeing." Sometimes humorous, often indignant, his paintings, full of tricks and subtleties, stimulate the imaginations of those who see them. They serve as visual references, both steeped in tradition and at the same time, capable of speaking about our modern daily lives. If Braun Vega appropriates others' paintings, it is in order to bring forth a painted image that is composite-and prompting at first delectable, disturbing surprise, and then reflection.
