Reviews the status of Manitoba's forest resource (including the health & ecology of important tree species), examines forest management programs, and analyzes their effectiveness. It also outlines trends in forestry product demands and evaluates the forest resource capability in meeting demands for lumber & other wood products. Significant events described include partnership initiatives, cost-shared co-operation, forest protection, company forest management agreements, industry developments, and legislation and policy. Information is also given on annual allowable logging harvests, wood surpluses, wildfire losses, timber sales and permits, trends, and forecasts for demand. Much of the data is provided in statistical tables.
