Originally published in 1849, this was both a celebration of American independence as represented in the creation of the Bunker Hill Monument, and a surprisingly comprehensive history of the 1775 military operations that started the American Revolution and the siege of Boston that followed the Battle of Bunker Hill, with detailed accounts of British rule of the city, their evacuation of the city, and the celebration of the victory. This is a reprint of the 4th, 1873 edition which included many revisions, additions, documents and illustrations. Includes the two original oversize foldout maps. 2005: 422 pages, illustrated.
