After fifty years as a roughneck, roustabout, and driver, he has retired to the shores of the Toledo Bend reservoir on the Texas-Louisiana border, where he fishes and writes. He freely admits Chandler's Destiny has a lot of him and his lifelong friends in it, but leaves it to the reader to guess how much.
