註釋This paper presents a critical review of research literature linking relations between parent/adolescent relationships, adolescent identity formation, and physical & emotional health within dimensions of the cultural context. Objectives of the review include: to describe optimal identity development and the factors that facilitate or hinder such development; to examine the role of culture, identity formation, and parent/adolescent relationships in positive & negative adolescent identity outcomes; and to link adolescent identity development to adolescent health outcomes. The final section identifies & delineates the relevant social & government policy implications that might promote optimal parent/adolescent relationships to support adolescent identity development and mitigate barriers to such development.
