This critical six-volume edition of the Shahnameh aims at establishing a text that will bring us closer than heretofore possible to the original of Ferdowsi's celebrated tenth century epic. Dr. Khaleghi-Motlagh has followed the text of the Florence manuscript as closely as possible. Two volumes are envisaged for explanatory notes and the arguments behind the editor's choices, bringing the total number of volumes to eight.
