Relates the struggle against immigration restrictions for children which was conducted by various persons and organizations, both Jewish and non-Jewish, the subsequent admission of these children, their resettlement and assimilation. Analyzes the factors (post-recession economic conditions, latent antisemitism, anti-immigrant public mood, tenuous position of the Jewish organizations) responsible for the fact that such a small number of children were admitted into the USA.
