Diary of Dr. George Mogridge, an immigrant from England. Covers the six months from January to July 1936. Started in Los Angeles describing three months of visiting friends and tourist attractions before returning to Iowa in April. Mogridge, head of the boys section of the Iowa Institution for Feeble-Minded Children in Glenwood, describes the heat wave that hit Iowa in the summer of 1936. Entries read, "110 degrees. The hottest day for years ... only one child has succumbed to the heat." The last entry is in another hand and states that on July 21. "Dr. Mogridge died at 8:30 in the evening ... Found by a friend in his bathroom."
