Letter written by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles to his cousin, the Reverend Dr. Thomas Raffles aboard the brig Favourite on his voyage to Calcutta. Raffles writes of his hope in succeeding Colonel John Alexander Bannerman as governor of Prince of Wales Island. The long letter represents the only attempt Raffles ever made to write an autobiography.
