註釋This work summarizes Phase I of a two-part investigation into the effects of highways on wildlife populations and habitats. Phase I was undertaken to select, test, and evaluate techniques and procedures for rapid and efficient assessment of wildlife populations and habitats in relation to roads and highways in the Pacific Northwest, the Midwest Tillplain, and the Southern Piedmont of the United States. Specific recommenations are made concerning cluster configuration for sampling units, and habitat, bird, mammal, amphibian, reptile, and wildlife road mortality surveys for Phase II of the study. In addition, detailed field procedures selected for the second phase of the study are presented.
