註釋John D. McLean was born in about 1760 in Isle of Mull, Scotland. He emigrated in about 1794 and settled in North Carolina. He married in about 1787 and had seven known children. He died in about 1846 near Ellerbe, North Carolina. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in North Carolina.
