Assassinations and Executions
註釋This fully updated and revised edition provides a thorough look at the many world leaders who met their end in a violent manner during the last century, from William Goebel, Kentucky's Democratic gubernatorial nominee in the election of 1899 who was shot on January 30, 1900, when he contested the election he narrowly lost--to General Ansumane Mane, the former army chief of staff ousting President Bernardo Vieira of Guinea-Bissau who was killed in a gun battle with soldiers in Blom on November 30, 2000.
This book includes political assassinations, political executions, unsuccessful attempts against major world figures, and overviews of violent political events and their major victims. Arranged chronologically, the entries detail the manner, the motive, the assailant (when known), brief biographical information on the victims, the immediate effects on the political climate of the day, and in some cases, the final fate of the assassins. The prologue provides a summary of those leaders whose assassinations fell before this period.
