註釋Koalas is simultaneously one woman's labor of love and the collaboration of many people who lost their hearts to this winsome little creature from Down Under. The utter delight of seeing image after image of one of the most beloved animals in nature is only part of this book's attraction. Ehrich, a commercial designer, enlisted 120 amateur and professional photographers from 24 countries to provide images depicting the charming marsupial. She then arranged them not just in categories (segments cover such topics as Characteristics,Life Cycle, and Feeding) but also in sequences, so a series of stills conveys a sense of the sleepy creature's tranquil approach to life. Interspersed with pictures that are nothing short of extraordinary are glimpses into the animal's history, biology, and folklore, as well as its current dire state of endangerment. Deborah Tabard, Executive Director of the Australian Koala Foundation, has provided the foreword, and naturalist/adventurer Jack Hanna has written the afterword. The professional photographers include Shin Yoshino, Rick Preberg, and Mike Larder. The photography credits are, oddly enough, very insightful. Ehrich has included snippets of personal information provided by those individuals worldwide who snapped the pictures - showing that the koala's appeal is truly global, no matter what a person's profession, interests, or homeland might be.
