Carlson's work (a continuation of Geijer's Svenska folkets historia, Örebro, 1832-6) appeared with title: Sveriges historia under konungarne af pfalziska huset, v. 1-2, 1855-6; v. 3-4, 1874-5; v. 5-7, 1879-85. the reign of Charles XII was to have comprised v. 6-9, but remained unfinished owing to the death of the author. The present German edition, supervised by the author, contains a tr. of v. 1-5, and an abridged tr. of v. 6-7. the remaining part of the reign of charles XII has thus far not appeared in the series. Stavenow's history is in the main a translation and revision of his "Frihetstiden 1718-1772," pub. in 1903 as afd. 7 of "Sveriges historia. Utg. af E Hildebran."
