Project UNIVERSE
註釋This book describes the design, construction, and testing of the experimental UNIVERSE information technology network and outlines the project's organization. Project UNIVERSE was developed in the early 1980s by a consortium of industrial, university, and government laboratories. It involves the combination of broadcast satellite and local networking technologies to form an integrated communication system. Applications of the network involve a variety of information technology systems, including slow-scan video, security, teletex, videotex, packet voice and conventional computer-to-computer communication. The book offers a unique case-study experience for use in communications courses as well as for researchers in the area.
