The Road to Cherokee
註釋An epic tale set in the California Gold Rush of two families. As the story unfolds, our families brave a long overland trek to settle in the Oroville, Calif. Area. One sought mining and riches. The other sought to farm the bottomlands below Butte County California¿s Table Mountain. Along with the challenges of raising young girls in and around mining camps, the families pursue their dreams. The mountain then delivers hydraulic mining debris onto the lowland farmers, which puts both families at odds over their respective futures. This story follows closely and accurately the chain of events that led to the shutdown of the Cherokee Mine and other similar hydraulic mines in California. Backed by actual events, the two families struggle through the collapse of their dreams and a new beginning to conclusion in the 1880's. The tale is prefaced with the historical background, amply footnoted and illustrated with more than 70 maps and period photographs.
