After he gets the special fiddle appraised by a reclusive dealer in Pennsylvania, dangerous and mysterious forces curl and swirl through his life suddenly. -- The novel is a chance to hang out in the mind of the man who is a champion fiddler and instrument maker, to chill in the heat of an intensely musical life. Scroll and curl, of course, refer to the aspects of a violin. Scroll and curl are plot dimensions also, and relate to the life style of the characters presented.
