Erich Cramer Stern Travel Diary in Germany and Norway
註釋Erich Cramer Stern kept a diary of his travels and activities in Berlin and Hamburg, Germany, with an excursion to Norway, 4 June to 27 August 1905. He describes the architecture in Berlin and Hamburg. While in Berlin he attends lectures at the university, studies Karl Marx's book, takes Italian lessons at the Berlitz School, attends a rowing competition and tennis tournament, goes for lots of walks in the woods, eats in many restaurants, goes to the theater, and writes about other boarders by name. On 2 August he boards the SS Meteor for an excursion cruise to Norway and describes the architecture, landscape, and fjords which remind him of Alaska. He returns to Berlin on 27 August, the last entry in his diary. He notes that he has secured a ticket to return home on 29 September from Naples. In addition to the travel descriptions, he writes introspectively about his need for companionship as almost a physical necessity, and spends a lot of time with both male friends and female acquaintances, and married couples.
