註釋
Abstract: A case for the conservation of natural resources as a method of attaining unlimited economic growth is explored. Conservation does not have to be painful; it is a wise policy for promoting sound business practices in every industry from whaling to general technology. Energy conversation does not mean "freezing in the dark." Improved insulation of homes is a much more effective approach (which also means added jobs and continued technological improvements for the industry). Cars traveling 1000 miles on 50 gallons go just as far as those travelling 1000 miles on 100 gals. Technological advances insure jobs, increasing production and improving GNP. Air pollution in Canada causes $22 billion in damages annually. Planned obsolescence of a product as a marketing approach is not only wasteful but inefficient. Changes in longheld attitudes are the root of conservation and an improved GNP.
