Designing English for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering can be difficult and challenging for teachers and lecturers. Both mechanical and electrical engineering domains have unique terminology and specialized expressions. Technical vocabulary specific to mechanical and electrical engineering is complex. The subject matter requires precise language to convey complex concepts. Due to this complexity, there is a need for a balance between theoretical and practical language usage. Besides, the diverse backgrounds of the learners including their language proficiency level and prior knowledge. There is a need to align the content with specific industry standards and regulations.

Aimed to comprehend academic journal texts, this course book is designed to help undergraduate students in the field of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering improve their English language receptive skills. The material covered in this book will focus on the specific language and terminology used in the engineering practical research and profession. Authentic texts from original research articles were adapted to familiarize students with the current issues in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering specifications. These texts were also simplified and specifically written for pre-intermediate to intermediate English for Additional language learners in Indonesia. Content-based materials provide learners with opportunities to practice using language in relevant contexts.
