A young girl from the Basque Country in Spain tries to find herself among constant changes in her life. Her parents send her to Wales for the summer to study at a boarding school as they cope with family issues. There she learns how to socialise and discovers a mystery about the school's history. On returning home, she faces a family crisis and meets new friends who have a negative influence on her. Later one, she discovers family secrets and travels to South America to find the answers.
