1995-2002 Ecos del interior
註釋A graphic documentary by photojournalist Martin Weber (b. Chile 1968, lives and works in Argentina) of a determinate time period in Argentina: the end of a fantasy of the "1 x 1" (one US dollar for each Argentine peso) and the beginning of one of the worst economic crisis in the history of the country. Weber captures the sadness almost "theatrical faces and attitudes of the people discontent with their present and future and with dreams of an heroic-religious past. "This work was produced between 1995 and 2002, before the fall of one presidency in December of 2001, followed by four others within the week, ending with Argentina's default in January, 2002. The inhabitants of the interior of Argentina are often called upon to represent a romantic image of my country. They embody the nation's ideals in the rhetoric of politics, but are ignored when decisions are made at the centers of power. Here are the people and places, as well as symbolic objects and sites where Argentine history ... is evoked through individual histories." --Pages [6].
