A Selection of Italian Medieval Literary Texts
註釋A Selection of Italian Medieval Literary Texts presents original texts with facing translation of poets echoed in Dante's works (i.e. Guido Cavalcanti, found in La Vita Nuova and Inferno X, Pier della Vigna, remembered in Inferno XIII, Guido Guinizelli, recalled in Purgatorio, Francis of Assisi, praised in Paradiso, etc.), while covering most of the literary genres: poetry, drama and prose. The main part of the anthology is dedicated to Dante, Petrarch and Boccaccio. The volume includes ten of the most memorable cantos of Dante's Inferno, Canto V of Purgatorio and Canto XXXIII of Paradiso. Twelve of the most popular poems from Petrarch's Canzoniere are included as well as ten popular tales from Boccaccio's Decameron.
