註釋
The Cuban Missile Crisis was an incredibly tense moment in the Cold War. During the thirteen-day standoff, the United States may have come closer to nuclear war with the Soviet Union than at any other point in its history. While many individuals played some role in the Cuban Missile Crisis, President John F. Kennedy stands towering above the rest. Kennedy's role in the events leading up to the crisis; his responsibilities during the crisis as policy formulator, team leader, and diplomatic negotiator; and his actions in the aftermath of the crisis proved to be pivotal in the Soviet standoff. While an evaluation of Kennedy's administration will reveal a history of deception and a failure to learn from past mistakes, it cannot be denied that he is a man who will be remembered for how well he handled the Cuban Missile Crisis. Throughout the entire crisis, Kennedy's leadership style, executive power, and decisions showed that it was the power of the president that would reign supreme in foreign policy. -- abstract.
