The Changing Profile of Federal Deputy Ministers 1867 to 1988
註釋The deputy minister is one of the most important players in Canada's political system. However, the socio-professional characteristics of deputy ministers are little known, since no systematic study of the group has been done. The purpose of this report is to correct that omission by describing, period by period, the evolution of the profiles of origin, career profiles, and political profiles of the 320 deputy ministers who successfully headed the federal government's departments and central agencies from the first day of Confederation until the end of Prime Minister Mulroney's first term in office.
