In the 1890s the antisemitic Böckel movement found strong support in Reinheim, and in the 1893 Reichstag elections the Antisemitic Party received 42% of the votes. During the Weimar Republic, despite generally good relations between Christians and Jews, there was a strong Nazi movement in the town.
