註釋Sol LeWitt was first invited to Australia, through a John Kaldor Art Project, in March 1977. Twenty-one years later, Kaldor was responsible for a return Art Project by the artist, this time at the MCA. LeWitt's work has transformed in that time. From evolving a personal language for art-making, derived from the most ancient forms of Western philosophical thought, against all forms of metaphor and illusion in the 1960's, to an art built of remarkable improvisational openness of interpretation in the 1980's, and '90's. It is the latter that was the concern of this remarkable exhibition, and hence this catalogue.
