The Tail of the Big Prawn
註釋"No Australian road trip would be complete without visiting some of the 'Big Things'... Coffs Harbour's Big Banana, Bundaberg's Big Rum Bottle, or the Big Captain Cook in Cairns - there are nearly 200 Bigs, and still counting. Ballina's Big Prawn was built in 1990 to celebrate the local prawning industry. It perched atop a complex that included a Viennese restaurant, a fish shop and a petrol station. It had internal stairs leading up to its perspex eyes. In 2010 the complex closed and the Big Prawn lapsed into disrepair. When it was threatened with being dismantled it attracted 10,000 Facebook friends. Then it was saved by Bunnings, moved down the road to a new site, and given a costly face (and tail) lift. Local author Robin Osborne has a special relationship with the Big Prawn, having written the only other book about it - Tessa and the Big Prawn - back in its early days. Now he reveals how the Big Prawn felt in its low moments, and how happy it is with its new life"--Back cover.
